· What is the Northern Diamond Alliance of Illinois?

The NDA is an alliance of recreational softball programs working together to create stronger communication, more consistent standards, better scheduling, and more opportunities for players across Northern Illinois.

· Does joining the NDA mean our town loses control of its program?

No. Each town keeps its own identity, leadership, traditions, registration process, coaches, and local operations. The NDA provides the shared framework that helps communities work together.

· What does the NDA oversee?

The NDA helps coordinate recreational league operations such as scheduling, common playing standards, sportsmanship expectations, umpire standards, communication, and league events.

· Who can join the NDA?

Recreational softball organizations and communities that share the NDA’s commitment to player development, sportsmanship, collaboration, and consistent league standards.

· What age divisions does the NDA offer?

The NDA is structured for 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U divisions.

· How are rules determined?

Rules are reviewed with participating organizations and finalized through the Alliance process. The goal is to create fair, consistent, and development-focused standards across all member towns.

· Will each town have a voice in the Alliance?

Yes. Each joining Member Organization will have the opportunity to provide a representative to serve on the NDA Board.

· Why is board representation important?

The NDA believes the Alliance should be built with its communities, not just for them. Town representation helps ensure decisions reflect the needs of participating programs.

· When will the 2027 rules be finalized?

The NDA plans to hold a winter meeting in November with interested and participating towns to review and finalize rules for the 2027 season.

· How does scheduling work?

The NDA coordinates league scheduling using team declarations, field availability, blackout dates, and scheduling standards provided by member organizations.

· How far in advance do games need to be confirmed?

All games must be confirmed at least 72 hours before the scheduled first pitch.

· Who handles umpires?

Umpire responsibilities are the responsibility of the towns, NDA will help provide training.

· Does the NDA allow travel players?

The NDA is built around recreational softball. Eligibility rules for travel, tournament, and part-time players are defined in the Official Playing Rules.

· Will there be tournaments or end-of-season events?

Yes. The NDA is structured to support league tournaments and other Alliance events, with details published before each season.

· How does the NDA handle sportsmanship and conduct?

The NDA has a Code of Conduct that applies to players, coaches, parents, spectators, volunteers, and officials.

· Can local organizations have stricter rules or procedures?

Yes, as long as local procedures do not conflict with NDA standards.

· How do we express interest in joining?

Towns and organizations can complete the NDA 2027 Interest Form or contact the Alliance directly at ndasoftballalliance@gmail.com.

· Where can I find the NDA rules and official documents?

The Constitution & Bylaws, League Handbook, Official Playing Rules, and Code of Conduct will be available on the NDA website.

· Who leads the Northern Diamond Alliance of Illinois?

Mike Walters serves as President of the NDA, with additional board representation coming from participating member communities.

· What is the NDA’s main goal?

To bring communities together, create greater consistency, support recreational programs, and continue growing the game of softball for future generations.
